Testing Requirements

5th Gup - High Green Belt

Pattern

Won-Hyo

Kicks

  • Hook kick
  • Outward downward kick
  • Inward downward kick
  • Crescent kick
  • Skip side pushing kick
  • Skip side thrusting kick
  • Flying side front snap kick
  • Flying high kick
  • Flying side piercing kick
  • Double kicks (same kick, same leg, same direction)
  • Two consecutive kicks (same direction, same leg, same or different kick)

Hand Techniques

  • Inward strike with the knife hand
  • Circular block with the inner forearm
  • Guarding block with the outer forearm

Stances

  • Fixed stance
  • Bending ready stance Type A
  • Closed ready stance Type A

Step Sparring

Beginning 2-step sparring

Tournament Competition

Participation in a minimum of 1 tournament within the previous 12 months required. Talk with your instructor regarding an appropriate tournament. TTA tournament is required when being held during a testing period.

Community Service

Students should be actively participating in community service and must have completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service since beginning training as a White Belt to be eligible to test for 1st Dan Black Belt.

Seminars

Students must have attended a minimum of one (1) TTA seminar in the previous 12-month period. NOTE: Since beginning as a White Belt, students are required to have attended a minimum of one (1) Kicking seminar, one (1) Technique/Patterns seminar, one (1) Referee/Sparring seminar, one (1) Self Defense/Ho Sin Sul seminar to be eligible to advance to Black Belt.

Ho Sin Sul

Release from a choke from the front followed by a counter. Also, be prepared to demonstrate all from previous rank.

Breaking

All breaks are to be done with instructor's permission

Adults - Hands

1 board with Downward knife-hand strike, Inward knife-hand strike, or Outward knife-hand strike

Adults - Feet

1 board with Side piercing kick or Turning kick

Juniors - Hands

No breaking requirements
