Testing Requirements

7th Dan - Black Belt

Training Requirements

  • Extensive training at 6th Dan level
  • 30 hours community service
  • Must be actively involved in teaching TaeKwon-Do as a chief instructor
  • Demonstration of leadership within the TaeKwon-Do community
  • Expected to conduct seminars and lead instructor development

Organizational Chart and Officers of the T.T.A.

Students must demonstrate complete and comprehensive knowledge of the Traditional TaeKwon-Do Alliance organizational structure, including:

Leadership Structure

  • Grand Master and founder roles and responsibilities
  • Senior Master instructors and their positions
  • Regional directors and their jurisdictions
  • School owners and chief instructors
  • Assistant instructors and their roles

Organizational Functions

  • Governance and decision-making processes
  • Testing and promotion procedures
  • Tournament organization and management
  • Seminar and continuing education programs
  • Standards and curriculum development
  • Quality assurance and instructor certification

TTA Schools and Affiliates

  • Hups TaeKwon-Do (Westminster, Colorado)
  • West View TaeKwon-Do
  • Paonia TaeKwon-Do
  • Gunnison TaeKwon-Do
  • In-Nae TaeKwon-Do
  • Understanding of expansion and affiliate relationships

Grand Master Level Leadership Responsibilities

At 7th Dan level, students are expected to demonstrate and understand:

Educational Leadership

  • Curriculum development and standardization
  • Instructor training and certification programs
  • Quality assurance and maintaining standards
  • Research and development in TaeKwon-Do methodology

Organizational Leadership

  • Strategic planning and organizational development
  • Building and maintaining the TaeKwon-Do community

Community Leadership

  • Promoting TaeKwon-Do in the broader community
  • Community service and outreach programs
  • Character development and moral education
  • Building bridges between martial arts and society

Complete TaeKwon-Do Knowledge

As a 7th Dan, students must demonstrate master level knowledge in all areas:

  • Complete history of TaeKwon-Do and Korean martial arts
  • Deep understanding of all philosophical principles
  • Mastery of all technical aspects and applications
  • Expert knowledge of teaching methodology
  • Understanding of competition and judging
  • Knowledge of related martial arts and their relationships to TaeKwon-Do

The Highest Level

7th Dan represents the pinnacle of technical and educational achievement in TaeKwon-Do. At this level, the practitioner has transcended the role of student and has become a guardian and transmitter of the art, responsible for preserving its integrity and ensuring its continued development for future generations.
